After a soul-crushingly slow trudge out of Mass and across Connecticut, we saw a little bit of everything from Electrify America:
1) Congestion but a fully operational station and reliable hardware in Newburgh, NY.
2) A key location reopened in Bloomsburg, PA, with a fresh new Sheetz but the same old hardware that couldn’t hold a session.
3) A respectable charge in State College, PA, but lower power on a couple of units potentially limits turnover at busier times.
Enter EVgo’s latest 350 kW hardware, which started right up again with Autocharge+ and delivered 12-80% in 17 minutes, allowing us to bypass a perma-full EA station just north of Pittsburgh.
3 miles per kWh over 750 miles is a solid number for a fully loaded IONIQ 5 AWD, although it was inevitably helped by that laborious first four hours.
