Watch this before ply lining your Renault Kangoo E-Tech, Nissan Townstar or Mercedes ELECTRIC van

If you are buying or have a Renault Kangoo E-Tech, Nissan Townstar EV or a Mercedes eCitan/EQT electric van and are going to ply line it, then you need to be aware that the high voltage disconnect is in the cargo space floor. If you intend to install a ply floor, non-slip floor or racking, you need to make sure that this HV isolation switch is still accessible. I would imagine that this is not common knowledge and any pre-cut lining kit for the existing combustion engined models will be used and will not have a cut out for this switch. You do NOT want to cover this up. Access to this switch is needed for repairs, but also in an emergency following an accident.
I can imagine an example where these vans have a normal wooden floor fitted, with ply on the sides and racking installed, as most vans do. The van goes into the dealership for a service or repair. The technician needs to access the HV isolation switch. They can’t because its covered over by the wood floor. They can’t remove the floor because the ply sides and wheel arches boxes need to be removed first. They can’t do this because the racking is in the way. They can’t remove this because the van is full of tools and materials etc etc etc!
