In this video I visit the new EV charging hub in Oxford, which is located within the Redbridge Park & Ride car park. All drivers get free parking for the first hour, which is enough to charge any vehicle on the DC rapid chargers. However, you must get your free ticket from the machines, which I show you on this video. If you’re using the Wanea AC chargers, then you are likely to be staying for longer than an hour and would be "parking", so you will need to pay the relevant parking fees.

Since filming this video, I’ve discovered Hozah. If you’re a regular visitor to the Oxford Redbridge Park & Ride car park, create an account with them and it automatically sorts out your parking fees and the one hour free parking and saves you getting a ticket and saves any mistakes or fines. For some background information on this new charging hub…
Opened in July 2022, the charging hub will initially offer fast and ultra-rapid charging for 42 vehicles at once at Oxford’s Redbridge Park and Ride.
It will be powered entirely by renewable energy.
With 10 MW of installed capacity on site, the hub can scale up with EV adoption to provide charging for 400 vehicles.
Fastned has initially installed ten charging bays at the Superhub with 300 kW of power available, capable of adding 300 miles of range in just 20 minutes for hundreds of EVs per day.
Unlike any other UK charging hub, the site is directly connected to National Grid’s high voltage transmission network via a four-mile underground cable, which will deliver 10 MW of power to quickly and simultaneously charge hundreds of EVs without putting additional strain on the local electricity network or requiring costly upgrades.
