UK/EU laws do not yet allow full self driving and if you’re not holding the steering wheel when using Tesla Autopilot, you’re prompted to hold the steering wheel to apply a bit of torque every 20 seconds or so. However, Tesla are now using the internal cabin camera to detect when your hands are on the steering wheel. So it’s not just pressure or torque on the steering wheel that will satisfy the car – just putting your hands over or near the wheel will also remove the nag prompts.
In this video I’m driving a 2024 Tesla Model Y RWD with HW3/AI3 on software version 2025.8.7.
