I’ve been trying to decide what batteries to use on the go-kart. I have a few different batteries around, both lead and lithium, but they all seem to be either too large to fit under the fiberglass body or on the small side, so they would have low run time!
A called a friend and he mentioned that he had some A123 batteries for sale. I noticed they were pulled from a Hymotion plug-in system for a Prius. I HAVE a HYMOTION system! It quit working years back, so I pulled it from the car and stashed it away.
I took it apart and pulled out the cells. They are PERFECT for the cart! Great size, high-power cells, and they are A123! Each block is 24V nominal. One on either side of the cart is perfect for a 48V system, and I think I have exactly the right amount of space for TWO on either side if I wanted to double my capacity!
