Tesla has renamed AUTOPILOT

Video by Matt Goes Electric via YouTube

Tesla just pushed update 2026.8.6 to my Model Y. It’s a small update in the UK, but it renames Autopilot and adds a few security fixes. In the full video https://youtu.be/EcZODHQKD6Q I explain exactly why Tesla dropped the Autopilot name, what they’re calling it now, and what it actually means for drivers.
Tesla rolls outs these free updates to the cars which not only fixes issues, but also adds improvements or new features, although this one introduces minor changes.
The vehicle in this video is a 2024 Tesla Model Y RWD (MCU3/Ryzen/HW3) with the 62.5kWh (60,5 kWh usable) LFP battery and at the time of filming this running on software version 2026.8.6.
This video was filmed in April 2026.
