The Chinese EV invasion shows no signs of slowing down, and this might be one of the most interesting new arrivals yet.

Meet the Aion V: the first UK model from GAC’s Aion brand, and a family-sized electric SUV packed with tech, space and some genuinely unusual ideas. With a starting price of just under £36,500, it’s aiming directly at rivals like the Kia EV3 and Škoda Elroq — but trying to stand out with comfort, refinement and sheer equipment levels.

Join Batch as he takes a first drive in the new Aion V. From the surprisingly premium interior and massive rear-seat space to the bizarre heated and cooled centre console box, we break down everything you need to know about China’s latest EV challenger.

With over 300 miles of claimed range, rapid charging, lounge-style seating modes and a cabin that feels far more expensive than the price tag suggests, the Aion V certainly makes a strong first impression. But in an EV market that’s getting more crowded by the week… is that enough?

And more importantly… would you choose it over more established alternatives from Kia, Skoda or Volkswagen?
