Master the future of transportation with Brian Culp’s essential guide to electric vehicles. As the automotive industry shifts toward sustainable energy, this comprehensive resource breaks down everything from battery technology and charging infrastructure to cost-saving incentives. Whether you’re a first-time buyer or a clean-tech enthusiast, gain the expert insights needed to navigate the EV revolution with confidence.
In this video, I look at what is under the bonnet (or hood) in an electric vehicle and also have a look at the battery pack underneath. In the case, a 2021 Citroen e-C4 Shine Plus with the 50kWh battery pack. This is a UK spec car with a heat pump.
Most front wheel drive electric cars are the same. They have an electric motor, reduction gearbox, power electronics, ECUs, cooling and braking systems up front, with the traction battery traction under the floor. The high voltage battery is mounted under the passenger compartment floor, so it sits between the axles in the passenger safety cell.
The car in this video is a 2021 Citroen e-C4 Shine Plus with the 50kWh lithium-ion battery with a usable capacity of around 46kWh.
This video was filmed in November 2023.
