I’ve been wanting to try balcony solar for ages, and when EcoFlow got in touch about the Stream Ultra X, I jumped at the chance. So I did what any sensible person would do — I dragged my wife outside and put two solar panels on the garage roof.
The plan? Take my office completely off-grid. One room, one battery, zero grid draws. Here’s how I got on.
The Stream Ultra X has a 3.84 kWh LFP battery, four MPPT inputs for up to 2,000W of solar, and a 10-year warranty. It’s IP65 rated so it can live outside, it’s got built-in battery heating for cold weather, and the EcoFlow app gives you a surprisingly detailed look at what your system is up to.
I also cover a few things worth knowing before you buy — including a setting that had the app incorrectly showing grid draw when I wasn’t connected to the grid at all, and why you should probably get an electrician involved if you want to plug this into your house circuit. It also gets weirdly ASMR in parts because I’m too lazy to add a soundtrack!
