In about two weeks, I converted a gas VW Camper Van to electric. Just a basic DC system, using essentially just parts I had! Here is is moving under it’s own power for the first time. Just going around the block, but it’s ELECTRIC!

Current specs is:
GE DC Aircraft Starter/Generator motor – 120V/167A
4 x 12V 136AH Lithium batteries in series (48V, yep, like a golf cart)
Alltrax AXE 48V/300A motor controller

That’s a VERY BASIC conversion. But it will let me try a few things, including driving around my neighborhood and take it in a parade.

Phase 2 of the plan is for an AC driveline (likely Nissan Leaf or Tesla), high-voltage battery pack, DC Fast Charging, and hopefully V2L Vehicle to load capability.
