Even though they shouldn’t, the reality is that all vehicles slowly leak refrigerant over time.
You should really get the air conditioning regassed about every 3 years or so. The machine removes the refrigerant in the system, does a pressure test and then refills it with the original refrigerant and tops it up to the correct level.
On electric vehicles that have a heatpump, the air conditioning compressor is also used for the heating, so it’s vital the refrigerant levels are correct.
In this example, I’m using a Nissan E-NV200 electric van.
