It won’t have escaped your attention that we love electric cars here at Electrifying.com.
But we also know that we have to be honest, and give you guys the same sort of advice that we’d give to, say, our mum or a close friend. And although it pains us to say it, the truth is that going electric might not be right for some car buyers right now.

That’s especially true right now, because the costs of buying and running an electric car have been rising while the price of fuel has dropped. As recently as last year, the cost of electricity if you were charging at home was blissfully inexpensive. As a rule of thumb, it was about a quarter of the cost of using fuel. Add in the fact that the government would give you a grant to help with the purchase of an affordable electric car and a charge point and the sums really did add up for thousands of motorists.

So do the sums still stack up for electric cars? Join Nicki as she digs out her trusty calculator to see if there’s still a financial advantage to going electric. If you’re on the verge of making switch or still at the calculator stage, let us know in the comments below.
