Barn Find 80s Turbo – THE Rarest of the Hot Hatches? In this special barnfind episode Jonny Smith is in Worcester to uncover an incredibly rare 1983 Renault 5 Gordini Turbo that has been wrapped up ad buried in blankets for the last 20 years. Known as one of the godfathers in the hot hatch world, Renault 5 Gordinis (also known as Alpines) first launched in the late 1970s without turbochargers, then the 80s turbo era came on boost! This was the affordable answer to the homologation Turbo 2 mid-engined monster that used the similar drivetrain. School teach Ed Fenner owned several of these over the decades, and this one he put away in storage when his first child was born. Said child turns 20 soon! Can Jonny get the Renault Turbo to run?
