‘Electric cars use electricity which is generated by burning coal. They are worse than petrol cars.’ This old chestnut has been debunked many times. So we go again!
Multiple studies show that EV’s even if powered by electricity generated by coal emit 50% less emissions than an ICE vehicle.
A grid expert and a professor in India crunched some numbers for Indian grid conditions with heavy transmission losses and found that EV’s emit way less emissions compared to ICE vehicles.
Fossil fuel consumption in a power plant is way more efficient compared to in an internal combustion engine of a car. As per research from Science Direct, a petrol engine is 25% efficient coal power plants are 38%–45% efficient. All Links are below.
We have EV owners who have installed solar panels at their homes to power their electric cars.
An ICE car can never offer true zero emissions.
By every metric Electric Vehicles are better.
