This trailer is a project I built a few years ago. At the time, there were some commercially-built solar trailers for sale through a bankruptcy auction. The LOWEST I saw any go for was about $10,000!

I had an old trailer and some used solar panels, so I thought I could just build my own!

It features:
6’8"x12′ Utility Trailer
6 used 250W panels (1,500 watts total)
Outback Flexmax 80A MPPT Solar Charge Controller: https://amzn.to/3X9D2dP
Repurposed 2200W UPS as a charger and inverter
7 Nissan Leaf Battery Modules

I figure the total value of everything in this project is around $2,000, but to be clear, I already had MOST of the components for this project. The only things that I bought new specifically for this was the pipes/u-bolts/hardware and the solar charge inverter. In fact, I already had a different solar charge controller which would work fine, but it was NOT MPPT. This is a great project for showcasing the use of MPPT to match up the voltage of the solar panels to the battery.
I probably spent about $600 between the MPPT Solar Charge controller and other materials. Everything else was already owned, salvaged/recycled, or sunk cost.

Since everything on the AC side is just standard plug and play components, I can easily add a portable GFCI or plug-in neutral bond.
