Given that Renault was one of the first manufacturers to electric with the Zoe, it’s taken the French brand an awfully long time to give us a follow-up. After a couple of false starts (yes, Twizy and Fluence, we’re looking at you), we’re finally at the stage where Renault has a proper, family-sized, sensible all-electric hatchback.

Aimed fairly and squarely at the Volkswagen ID.3, it will be the first car to give the German hatch (which is maturing nicely into a fine package) a true run for its money. This is good news because competition means that car makers have to work twice as hard to part us from our cash.

Join Nicki as she drives on the very first right-hand drive Megane E-Tech models to land in the UK. We were impressed after early drives of a French-spec car earlier this year – has Renault been able to keep the magic alive for our version?

As always, please leave questions and comments below. And if you have any suggestions for a comparison test, let us know!
