What is it like driving an electric car for the first time? Is it twice as difficult when you’re used to driving on the other side of the road?
Over the summer, my parents from the UK visited us in the US and took advantage of the current two EV situation to find out! Spending most of their time behind the wheel of our 2020 Chevy Bolt EV, this chat with my Dad covers the experience of jumping into the driver’s seat of an electric car for the first time, initial impressions on one-pedal driving and charging, plus a comparison of our Bolt and the newer tech in our 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5.
This took place during the summer months when range was maximized and charging was easy, but we’ll have another visit coming over the winter months. Expect a follow-up session to compare and contrast, as well as diving a little deeper into the electric car situation in the UK.
