The UK electric vehicle charging infrastructure is growing as sites are getting new upgraded grid connections. There’s been a 46% increase in the number of chargers in the last year alone.
In this video, I visit the Welcome Break South Mimms Services on the M25, near Potters Bar, North London. These services, located at J23 (M25/A1M), have recently seen a massive expansion in the number of EV DC rapid chargers. There was originally two Gridserve 50kW chargers and 12 Tesla V2 Superchargers. Then came 6 Applegreen chargers with both CCS2 and Chademo.
But now there are an additional 8 Applegreen 180kW chargers, serving two vehicles at a time and Tesla are just commissioning (March 2024) a new bank of 24 V3 Superchargers.
So this now brings the total number of DC rapid charging bays to 64 at South Mimms!
