Explaining the two power meters in a 2023 Ford e-Transit electric van

Video by Go Green Autos via YouTube

The Ford e-Transit electric van has two power meters on the instrument cluster and its not immediately obvious what the smaller one does as it doesn’t seem to move. This is showing the power available from the electric motor and it will sit at maximum all the time unless your battery state of charge gets very low when it will reduce the power of the motor to preserve energy and therefore range.
The van featured in this video is a 2023 Ford e-Transit Trend L2 H2 with a 198kW (269 PS) motor and a 68 kWh battery pack.
This video was filmed in November 2024.
