Menards hardware store had these UVC Sanitizing Boxes for free after rebate (Original Price was $10, but Menards was trying to get rid of a lot of overstock). Menards frequently has products for free or discount (loss leaders) to get you in the store or get rid of slow or non-moving inventory. So this time around, I figured, why not, lets give it a go, I can always repurpose it for another use (Which I actually did, by using the UV LED’s to make a DIY UV Tube for my 1979 Space Invaders Cabinet!).
Unfortunately, the UV Sanitizing Box did not live up to it’s claims. While it puts on a pretty light show, it will not actually "sanitize" anything realistically. Follow along as I dissect the UV Sanitizing Box, and show what they did and where they skimped to make this non-functional.
