In 4 year the European Project FLAMINGo has developed a novel industrial manufacturing route for the efficient production of high performance lightweight aluminium metal matrix nano-composite materials for the manufacture of automotive parts.
The prototype components (steering knuckle and rear frame) were redesigned using a topology optimisation approach to match the characteristics of the newly developed materials and maximise their benefits.
The prototype components were integrated into ALKE electric vehicles and validated in real driving conditions using a complex sensor system for real-time performance monitoring at critical points.
