I have Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) on my HW3 Tesla Model Y and one of the features of that is driver initiated lane changing. In this example, I’m driving on Autopilot and I can force an automatic lane change by putting the indicator on. You have to do a full push of the indicator so it’s clicked on, not just a tap. Then once it’s clear, it will automatically change lanes.
There are some limitations though because our UNECE regulations (reg 79) dictate that the manoeuvre must complete within 5 seconds of the indicator, otherwise the car must return back to it’s position. It’s a rule that really hinders Autopilot lane changes in the UK. I made a video about this https://youtu.be/L5zh4nJ_fDg
The vehicle in this video is a 2024 Tesla Model Y RWD (MCU3/Ryzen/HW3) with the 62.5kWh (60,5 kWh usable) LFP battery and at the time of filming this running on software version 2025.44.25.3.
