The electric car revolution has seen a number of new car brands popping up to challenge the status quo.
Everything from Polestars to Ora Cats, Rivians to Genesiseses
(Genesii?)
So is the new blood a good thing, or should we stick to established names? Genesis is a brand that is the posh, upscale version of the Hyundai / Kia megacorporation.
It’s actually been building its own cars since about 2015, but only entered the European
market last year. We have already seen a couple of saloons and SUVs with internal
combustion engines, but they are a rare sight. The GV60 SUV was the first pure electric
effort from the company, and it was followed up by the more conventional G80 saloon.
This is the next part of the company’s plan – the Electrified GV70.
As you may have guessed, it’s bigger than the GV60 but it shares its body with petrol
models, which means there are some compromises.
But it is fast, charges quickly and has some excellent tech. The way Genesis sells cars is
interesting too.
Join Tom as he puts the UK-specification Electrified GV70 through its paces. Should it
be on your wish list for 2023 or should you stick with the well-known brands?
