A common comment when it comes to Tesla is about their poor build quality. So how bad are they really? It’s true, early Tesla’s did have some panel gap and trim alignment issues. But it has now been 12 years since the Tesla Model S was launched and Tesla build quality has continued to improve over the years. In this video I look at a new 2024 Tesla Model Y RWD which was built at Gigafactory Shanghai.
Panel gaps are certainly a thing of the past and while this car is not absolutely perfect, it’s not far off and matches the quality we’d expect from European brands at this price and higher. But where Tesla really shines is what’s underneath. Tesla is far more advanced than the traditional motor manufacturers in batteries, motors, powertrain electronics and operating system software.
