In this video I look at how you can still unlock, start and drive a 2014 Tesla Model S with a key fob with a dead (or in my case, no) battery. In my case, my spare key fob wasn’t working. I installed a new CR2032 battery and the fob still wasn’t working. So after a bit of research, I found that if you hold it on the front wing, it will be detected by the car. I wasn’t expecting this to work, but to my surprise it did. The car unlocked. I then held the fob under the power socket in the centre console and it started and drove. All of this was done without any battery in the key fob and with the other key well out of range. I tested this a few times and it worked!
