Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV’s “CrabWalk” functionality | Ioniq 5 EV’s “Crab Driving” functionality.
In 2021 Hyundai Mobis, the company responsible for technology development for Hyundai Motor Group with the e-Corner system on two concept cars, M.Vision Pop and M.Vision 2Go.Up to now, e-Corner technology has been put on the electric Hyundai Ioniq 5 in the form of an idea, and if it comes true, Ioniq 5 can sell well because this feature is so convenient and practical. According to the company, the e-Corner system is designed for hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), battery electric vehicles (BEVs), and electric fuel cells (FCEVs).
Not only going sideways like CrabWalk, but e-Corner technology also helps the car go diagonally like the GMC Hummer EV, the front wheel is straight, but the rear wheel is 90 degrees, making turning much more compact.
The modular e-Corner has been introduced to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 as a concept, and it is not clear when it will be applied to production cars.
