The Maserati MC20 uses a very unique combustion method. Most combustion engines use a single combustion chamber, made up of a piston, cylinder, and head. Maserati’s new engine uses a pre-chamber in the head, and combustion starts here in this tiny pocket. When the spark plug fires, it ignites the air & fuel mixture within the pre-chamber. At the end of the pre-chamber are little holes, which the combusting air and fuel then rockets out of, referred to as turbulent jets.
