Meet the man behind Pixar Cars (and how this REAL Sally Carrera 911 was built). In this special episode Jonny Smith manages to meet and interview one of the character creators of Disney Pixar’s Car Movie. Filmed at the 2023 Porsche Rennsport Reunion event in Californina, Jay Ward explains how the characters came to life, and why Lightning McQueen’s wife (Sally Carrera) had to be a 911 – specially a 996.

Besides being deeply passionate about his work, Jay is also a huge enthusiast of real life cars (especially classic Volkswagens and Porsches). In order to successfully create a fully operational Sally Carrera, Porsche gave Pixar a pre-production 996 in order to heavy customise in order to make the proportions similar to that of Sally’s movie character.
