Our 2020 Hyundai Ioniq Electric 38kWh has just had the "Refill coolant" message on the dash today. The coolant had dropped to the MIN mark on the coolant bottle, so I topped it up. However, there is a known issue with these, in that the coolant crystallises and it needs to be flushed and replaced. The first sign of this is a drop in coolant and the "Refill coolant" message on the dash.
Hyundai have a recall currently ongoing to replace the coolant in these vehicles. These use an "electric vehicle battery coolant" called BSC-1. It’s basically a low conductivity coolant. Hyundai are now replacing this with a BSC-2 coolant. So the time has come to get ours booked in for the recall.
