// About Rivian R1S
The Rivian R1S is an all-electric SUV that seats seven. It has a range of up to 300 miles and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 3 seconds. Deliveries have begun for the first orders and everyone is raving about it online.

The Rivian R1S can hold seven people and go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3 seconds, thanks to its 835 hp combined output power. It shares 91% of its components with the Rivian R1T. Rivian’s flat, low center of gravity chassis makes it an "electric vehicle skateboard." The vehicle is equipped for semi-autonomous driving according to level 3 and designed for both road traffic and off-road driving.

The R1S, announced in 2018, will be offered with three different traction battery capacities and power outputs. Currently the quad motor version powers each wheel by an independent traction motor, allowing full-time all-wheel drive with torque vectoring.

The quad-motor version uses electric traction motors developed by Robert Bosch GmbH, however these are carried on the vehicle’s frame. The R1S does not use wheel hub motors like the Lordstown Endurance.[13]

When the second and third rows are folded down, the total cargo volume is 104.7 cubic feet (2.96 meters cubed). There is also a front trunk area (commonly referred to as a "frunk") which can be found under the hood instead of where most internal combustion engine vehicles keep their engines. This space alone provides an additional 11.1 cubic feet (0.31 meters cubed) of lockable storage room for valuables. In addition to this already large amount of space, there is also a small compartment that can be found underneath the main cargo floor area.

The vehicle’s maximum towing capacity comes in at 7,700 pounds (3,500 kilograms).

Pet comfort mode allows you to maintain a selected temperature for your pet inside the car when you leave it unattended. In March 2022, we discontinued the 5-passenger option that deleted the third row; all R1S have 7-passenger three-row seating vehicles. When using the third row, people have Reported that it is "a little tight for adults". The reason being because there is low cushion height which can cause an awkward posture with knees higher than their hips.
The reviewers from Motor Trend were uncomfortably hot during comparison testing in the desert, due to the lack of a sunshade on the glass roof. Temperatures exceeded 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 Celsius). The reviewers also criticized the infotainment system, which is not compatible with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

The car’s air suspension provides a ground clearance of up to 14.9 inches (380 mm). interconnected wheel function diminishes body roll when the vehicle takes corners. In addition, There is also a "Camp Mode" that automatically levels the car when it is parked on 15% inclines or more. The deepest water depth the vehicle can handle without sustaining damage is 43.1 inches (1.09 m).

The R1S has a shorter overall length than the R1T, coming in at 3,450mm long with a wheelbase of 121.1 inches. This not only gives it better departure and breakover angles but allows for a tighter turning radius as well.
