In the over-the-air update version 2024.20 (in June 2024), Tesla introduced improvements to the LED matrix adaptive headlights. Amongst other changes, the adaptive headlight changes were "Headlights now adapt for curves in the road ahead of you and illuminate further when you’re driving on a motorway".
In this video I go for a drive to see if I can see the differences on curves in the road and when driving around corners. It was also raining, so I had a good opportunity to see if there were any improvements to the auto wipers as people have been commenting that they have seen a difference with this update or maybe the latest 2024.20.1 update which I have also got on my car.
In March 2024, Tesla released an over the air software update which enabled the matrix headlights. All Tesla Model Y and Model 3 since late 2020 have had LED matrix headlights fitted as standard, but the adaptive driving beam function of these headlights has never been enabled, so they operated like normal LED headlights. They did have automatic main beam dipping though. But finally Tesla rolled out an update in March 2024 in the UK and Europe which enabled the matrix headlights and added the "adaptive high beams" function and this replaces the previous simple automatic dipping.
