In this video I’m driving my HW3 Tesla Model Y on Autopilot on a rural A-road to show how it keeps in lane and handles the gentle bends and maintaining the gap to the vehicle in front. Autopilot (in the UK/EU anyway) is intended for motorways and dual carriageways and when on narrower single carriageway roads, you do have to take extra care as the lane centring isn’t great with sharper corners. However, once you get to know it’s limitations, using it on roads like this can help and be safer as eight cameras are better than two eyes!
The vehicle in this video is a 2024 Tesla Model Y RWD (MCU3/HW3) with the 62.5kWh (60,5 kWh usable) LFP battery and at the time of filming this running on software version 20256.8.
