Tesla Charge Port Door Failure Model X What went wrong?

My 2016 Model X’s Charge Port Door was just replaced due to a sensor fault. How did this happen on a seemingly sealed unit? Mobil service tech said likely water intrusion. I agreed. When I got some time, I opened the rear seal from the charge port, and what it WET! Video was recorded about 12 hours after opening the plug, so it actually had a lot of time to dry since originally opening.

All in all, it’s a fairly low-cost part, though if you have service install, the labor is a little on the high side for the 30 minutes it takes to install. I’ll be keeping it around for the time being, and likely potting it out with Acrylic or some other sealing compound.
