I check out the new Tesla Magic Dock Supercharger in Brewster, New York. It’s one of only ten Supercharger locations in the country that has the ability to charge non-Tesla electric vehicles. Tesla will be opening up more of its Superchargers to other EVs, but it’s unknown how many and exactly where they will be.
One of the problems the owners of non-Tesla EVs will encounter is that the location of the charge ports on their EVs isn’t in the proper position to use Tesla Superchargers. All Telsa vehicles have their charge ports on the rear right side of the vehicle and the cable reaches perfectly when you back into the parking spot. However, few non-Tesla EVs have the charge port in the same location, and that’s going to certainly be an issue.
