In this video I look at electrics on the Tesla Model Y tow bar for the UK and EU markets. It comes with the standard 13-pin EU socket. However, many owners will have older trailers and will want to use a 13-pin to 7-pin adaptor. Some people have struggled to make these fit on the Tesla Model Y. It would seem that some tow hitch assemblies are mounted a little too low which then makes it difficult to fit an adaptor in the electric socket as the protective flap wont hinge down enough. I suspect this is only the case if you’ve had the tow hitch fitted at a service centre and it isn’t an issue on cars that had the factory fitted tow bar. If this is the case with your car, you’ll have to return it to the service centre and ask for them to raise the tow bar assembly by a few millimetres.
