I’m driving my 2024 Tesla Model Y (using HW3) on standard Autopilot on a UK motorway.
What’s the point of the on-screen visualisations in a Tesla? Well, its to give you confidence as you can see what the car is seeing and it’s to get us ready for a full self driving (FSD) future.
The car is actually seeing and detecting more than is displayed on the screen too. But in the UK, the software in our cars is far behind what Tesla’s in other markets have and in America the visualisations are far more advanced and they’re rolling out FSD.
As we drive on the right, we’ll be a few years behind as the FSD software is tailored for left hand drive. But it will come.
