Tesla’s Park Assist is brilliant. It gives you a 3D visualisation of what is around the car and it can see kerbs, bollards and paint markings on the road and close items glow orange or red when very close. This system uses the 8 cameras around the car because from late 2022, Teslas do not have ultrasonic sensors. You also have the rear and side camera feeds when reversing as well.
However, Tesla don’t have a birds eye 360 degree camera view, which many other cars have and instead has this Park Assist visualisation. Many assume the birds eye view that other vehicles have is better. But it is created by stitching camera feeds together which creates a heavily distorted image with limited depth of view. I’ve had both and the Tesla Park Assist, together with the camera feeds is far superior as it sees further and there’s no distortion.
The vehicle is a 2024 Tesla Model Y RWD (MCU3/Ryzen/HW3) with the 62.5kWh (60,5 kWh usable) LFP battery and when filming this was on software version 2025.32.3.1.
