At the Moto Services on the M4 Westbound near Reading, UK there are now 34 electric vehicle charging bays. This week, Tesla opened their new V4 Superchargers at this site. These have a contactless payment terminal on each unit and longer cables and are also open to all EVs, (with CCS charging) not just Teslas.
However, what makes this site unique (or at least the first in the UK), is that the Tesla Superchargers are open to non-Tesla and right next to the GridServe chargers, but with a 20p per kWh difference in pricing. Is this going to star a price war and encourage the other networks to reduce their prices?
There’s also BP Pulse chargers at the petrol station within these services and they’re 30p more!
