Are EVs like the VW ID4 more expensive than gas-powered cars like the VW Tiguan? How do their total ownership costs like insurance, maintenance, and fuel really compare?
In this video I’ll talk about all the costs I have paid to own my Volkswagen ID4 electric crossover for the last 3 years and 50,000 miles. This includes things like charging fees, maintenance, and what I pay for car insurance. I’ll then compare that to the ID4’s sibling, the Volkswagen Tiguan costs, like gas prices.
The goal is to answer the question: will you save money by being a gas-powered internal combustion engine vehicle like the Volkswagen Tiguan or are electric vehicles ultimately less expensive to own in the end?
Keep in mind that price is only one factor. How fun they are to drive, how much safer than are than internal combustion engine vehicles, and the technology they offer can really set electric vehicles apart.
