In this video I’m visiting the Oxford EV charging hub which is located within the Redbridge Park & Ride car park. It’s a badly designed car park with a lack of signage and I’ve seen cars struggle to get in or out. So I show you how to get into the car park, where the chargers are, how to get the free parking ticket you need if you’re using the EV chargers and how you exit.
At this charging hub there are 10 x Fastned bays with both CCS2 and Chademo, 12 x Tesla Superchargers v3 for Tesla only and 20 x Wanea AC type2 chargers.
The Redbrigde Park & Ride car park entrance is on A4144 Abingdon Road, Oxford, OX14 4XG.
This video was filmed in March 2026.
For some background information on this charging hub…
Opened in July 2022, the charging hub will initially offer fast and ultra-rapid charging for 42 vehicles at once at Oxford’s Redbridge Park and Ride. It will be powered entirely by renewable energy.
With 10 MW of installed capacity on site, the hub can scale up with EV adoption to provide charging for 400 vehicles.
Fastned has initially installed ten charging bays at the Superhub with 300 kW of power available, capable of adding 300 miles of range in just 20 minutes for hundreds of EVs per day.
Unlike any other UK charging hub, the site is directly connected to National Grid’s high voltage transmission network via a four-mile underground cable, which will deliver 10 MW of power to quickly and simultaneously charge hundreds of EVs without putting additional strain on the local electricity network or requiring costly upgrades.
