Fixing something that seems so simply can often expand into something quite complex and or awkward. In this case, I was trying to fix an electric door mirror on my 2015 Land Rover Discovery 4 and I thought it was mirror motor. After replacing that, the problem remained so I then concluded it must be the mirror adjustment joystick in the door switch set. So I ordered a new switch pack and that did solve the mirror issue. But while replacing that part, a door lock cable broke, so yet another part had to be ordered. Replacing this cable then involved completing stripping the door internals and removing the window glass, window regulator and door lock. All of this is within the limited confines of the door skin with restricted access and without the help from YouTube videos, this would have been a much harder job and could have resulted in more broken parts. For example, separating the window glass from the window regulator is quite easy when you see how they’re connected when its out of the vehicle. But when its together inside the door its impossible to actually see inside the door, so you can’t tell what method of joining is used or how to separate them. This is where YouTube is invaluable.
People make "how to" videos to share their knowledge to help others and mostly for no reward. I refer to YouTube for research on a daily basis and this is why I make videos also. While this video is a vlog venting my frustrations, the majority of videos on this channel are to help others fix their vehicles or sharing semi-technical information to assist with purchasing a vehicle.
