Xenon headlight bulbs fade & need replacing after 10 years. The pitfalls of buying HID bulbs.

Did you know that xenon or high-intensity discharge (HID) headlight bulbs slowly fade over time and should really be replaced when around 10 years old? I recently purchased a 2015 Land Rover Discovery 4 and it has xenon bulbs and they didn’t seem very bright. I used to own one of these cars new 20 years ago and back in the day, they had great headlights. So I decided to replace the original (now 10 years old) xenon bulbs to see if that would improve the headlights. I wasn’t sure if I was going to notice a difference or if they just seem poor because I’m used to modern LED headlights in our other vehicles.
I made this video as I found buying replacement xenon bulbs wasn’t as easy as it should be. I concentrated on OSRAM bulbs and I found that most listings online were misrepresenting what they were actually selling.
The original bulbs Land Rover were fitting are OSRAM Xenarc Original. The cheapest I found these were on Amazon https://amzn.to/4hPauhw
I thought I’d upgrade to a higher performance bulb in the hope that I’d notice a bigger improvement. I purchased the OSRAM Night Breaker 220 Xenarc bulbs, which are the next up in the OSRAM range. I purchased them on eBay, but they’re not out of stock with that seller, so you can also get them on Amazon https://amzn.to/43aKt7W
But do check the manufacturers website https://www.osram.com/ecat/Xenon%20headlight%20lamps-Car%20lighting-Automotive/com/en/GPS01_1056949/ so you can make sure the seller’s listing is correct, as I found many were listing the "night breaker laser" but actually selling the "night breaker 220" or "xenarc original" versions instead.
