An update on XPeng and its compatibility issues with Tesla Superchargers following a recent V3/V4 firmware update scheduled for January 2025 affecting some 800V platform vehicles, including the XPeng G6. This update introduced a new protocol verification mechanism aimed at improving charging efficiency. While tested on mainstream 400V EVs, issues have emerged for certain 800V vehicles. XPeng is working on an over-the-air (OTA) update to resolve this, but for now, affected drivers should use alternative third-party fast-charging networks to fully utilise the G6’s 800V capabilities.
