Despite our love of the SUV, the C-sector (that 5 door family hatchback market that includes the VW ID.3 and Renault Megane E-Tech) still accounts for over 40% of total market share. So it would be fair to say that anyone coming into this space needs to stand out if they are to stand a chance of being noticed. Well if the name ORA doesn’t mean anything to you, the hopes are, it soon will. A relatively new brand, it was launched in China back in 2018 as an EV-only subsidiary of Great Wall Motors, itself one of that country’s biggest automotive players with sales of over 1.28 million units globally. Now it wants a slice of the UK, and so has launched this new brand here with its first offering – the Funky Cat.
We first saw this car a year ago in our ‘Sneak Peek’ series, and now we are back to drive the full, customer-ready production version here in the UK for the first time. But the big question is, does this funky feline have what it takes to win us over?
