Punishing a Brand New Car in the World’s Oldest (Cheapest!) Motorsport // Lands End Trial Part 1. In this episode Jonny Smith convinces Kia to let him take a brand new Picanto GT Line on the Landsend Trial. This may be the most cost effective motorsport left, but it’s definitely not the mildest. The trial was designed over 100 years ago to prove the robustness and reliability of new motorcycles. Then cars started entering. 2024 marked the 100th running event, so Jonny wanted to see if a new car could handle the punishment.

Thanks for stopping by The Late Brake Show.

Thanks to Worx tools https://uk.worx.com/ for supporting this episode with their cordless DIY and garage products.

Hug thanks must also go to the Motor Cycling Club (MCC) – https://www.themotorcyclingclub.org.uk/ – who encouraged us to try and conquer the trial in a new car, and try to capture it in such inhospitable rural parts of the world (at night!).

We have used several video clip(s) of Jonny trialling in an episode of Fifth Gear. After careful research into the legalities surrounding ‘Fair Use’, knowing that we have used the clip(s) in a factual, reportage way to validate the discussion point made by the person(s) involved in the original footage. We have used as short a clips as possible to validate said point. We have also used the clips in the confidence that it will act in a positive transformative way to the original clips; with that in mind, please check out the official Fifth Gear YouTube channel – https://www.youtube.com/fifthgear – and please support them as you are supporting us. Many thanks.
